Should you try a detox?

Don't get this confused with, "should you eat healthy, nutrient dense foods". If you know anything about me, you know I tell you to eat plenty of fruit and veggies! But let me go ahead and tell you why you SHOULD NOT buy that detox that person or company is selling....

Firstly, most things in fitness are a big scam...meant to make a lot of money, and since the fitness industry is worth a ton of money, and America is getting more and more obese, that proves it's just a ton of empty promises; just like detoxes...

Firstly, raise your hand if you have a liver 🙋🏻‍♂️ You should've raised your hand there since no one can survive without one. Well, your liver is a cleansing organ (a.k.a it takes crap out of your body, runs it through some chemical reactions, then eliminates the bad stuff. Your liver is a toxic removal system and unless you have liver disease or are living without a liver somehow (which your not), the bad stuff doesn't load up in there and have to be "detoxed" away with that companies "new detox system guaranteed to jumpstart your fat loss". Same goes for your kidneys, they act similarly and dump waste, noting "builds up".

So, if you have a liver and at least one kidney, there's no need to detox something that detoxes itself.

Now, I love when people eat more veggies, drink the green smoothies, eat loads of nutrient filled fruits.... but do it because you want to be healthier, not because someone baited you into buying a detox plan that you will only do for a certain amount of time and then stop. Do it, because you want to be healthier and you care about yourself and the people around you! If you were to lose weight on these detoxes, just sit back and think, you stopped eating bad stuff, and started eating fruits and veggies instead....thus, feeding your body and being in a "caloric deficit"....
